I like the colors and striations of the first image. The surfer is in a great location and frozen in a pleasing moment.
That devlish horizon line is cutting right through the middle of the frame. I wish it were just a touch higer or lower.
But as is, this is a pretty strong image made better by a nice job of cropping.
I agree about the horizon line, I wish I had got a bit of a better shot at the time.
