Traveling Couch

A Group of friends, Kyle Harden, Jill Riesland, Aja Vaughn, Josh Riesland, and Chase Tew(standing), pose for a photo in Blaisdell along the railroad tracks on a Sunday afternoon. The group posed for several photos that day in 2006 moving this 'unique' couch from place to place for a series of photos for a school project.

That couch theme is something that was done as a table top book a long time ago. It's a great idea.

I really like the idea of themed photo essays. They are fun and can be very imaginative.

The Dallas Morning News (like a lot of newspapers) does a special high school football preview every year.

Most years a single photographer shot all the major images from each school and usually there was some thematic element tying all the images together.

One year, they did "knocking on the door" as the theme. If you're a sports fan, you understand the analogy.

So the photographer dragged this old, beat up, wooden door everywhere and had individuals and teams from all the schools posing with it in some fashion. Sometimes the door was just standing by itself in the background. Sometimes people stood on it. Some carried it.

The door was ubiquitous but very well used. It was such a great idea!
