I know I keep riding you hard Denisha, but I'm not a fan of cutouts for montages.
I prefer blending the edges using feathering and blending modes with layers.
The problem I have is with the hard edges of cutouts. There's a fine line between showing purposeful edges of cutouts which is sort of an ironic deconstruction of the contemporary, slick cutouts that are precise and impossible to discern versus the very obvious and intentional cutout edges which are meant to demonstrate a raw, almost primitive design.
Yes, that's a mouthful of academic blather but it's better than simply saying I don' like cutouts.
